The Liberals would LOVE the Fairness Doctrine. Here's The Perfect Storm:
The FCC will inspect (actually, confiscate) un-edited source material from Fox or any other station. Step One..
After a little "editing" with choice bits and some embellished speech added in, MSNBC and CNN could air any story they want.
And Fox would be screwed because the original source material would be in the FCC's hands, leaving them helpless to refute the false stories created by the media. Charges follow.

It's sad and unbelievable that we need a government to tell us what is fair for us to hear in a country that was based on free speech. I look forward when we get term limits in this country.
