The Coinage Act of 1965, specifically Section 31 U.S.C. 5103, entitled "Legal tender," which states: "United States coins and currency (including Federal reserve notes and circulating notes of Federal reserve banks and national banks) are legal tender for all debts, public charges, taxes, and dues."

  • @RealCyrano I also might add that according to the currency act if said persons refuse to accept a legal tender payment on said debt the citizen in debt legally no longer owes said debt.

  • my dad owns a place where people pay bills. well, i was at the register one day working. someone came in and had to pay a $45 phone bill. and gave me pennies and dimes. i said, "DAD! Come here, please!"

  • @y2k95 that's an idea Ima keep bitchin about tax N crap N Ima keep payin my tickets in pennies for me to pay them to count YEP just like that!! Maby they won't exept them Now who saved money me myself and I... plus them taking care of me in jail cuz in broke N commited a crime(that im also taxed for) OMG tax is bullshit leave people alone

  • The U.S. Post Office will not accept Presidential dollars for a money order even though their website clearly states Money orders must be paid for in one of these ways: A.In U.S. Currency and coin in any amount. Check it out on my youtube page I video taped the whole ordeal.

  • I thought if you presented them with legal currency and they rejected it, the debt is null and void.
