The Museum of Jurassic Technology has an odd name. This is because the Jurassic period lasted from 206 to 144 million years ago, well before modern humans appeared on the scene in the last few million years. How could there be "Jurassic technology" if we think of technology as a human achievement?
The title immediately sets up a puzzle for people going to the museum and opens up a reminder that museums give us certain information which people rarely question. The museum is filled with examples of technologies, artistic achievements, and religious ideas that all combine to startle the viewer and make us re-think what museums should do and make us question *how* we know what we know. This museum is a must-do if you ever find yourself in the Southern California area, but be prepared! It might raise more questions than it answers which is probably good. It is a quirky blend of information and art. Enjoy!
