The third and final part reveals how our knowledge of cells has brought us to the brink of one of the most important moments in history. Scientists are close to repeating what has happened only once in four billion years - the creation of a new life form.

  • Great series!

  • @HappyBirthdaySANTA think about physics in the whole universe. nobody had to create physics. for our universe to exist the way it is certain laws come into play... for if there was no gravity everything would fall apart and fly away. other physics could be that heat melts metals and other elements. same simple explanation for the small scale, in there certain rules applies also.there is nothing intelligent about gravity, nor about how elements of dna come together. it's all rules of our universe

  • This video is amazing . It has changed my perception of how i see life in a lot of ways. Thanks for the share

  • @StandingRedPanda i guess my question was just way over your head... i want to know what tells dna to do it's job... intelligence from what???

  • @HappyBirthdaySANTA Are you really that ignorant or acting that way? Where does DNA come from? You just watched a documentary about it! And intelligence? It starts with neurons. They process stimuli, lets say light detection in tiny ocean microorganisms. Through evolution & natural selection each new generation gets more and more neurons that eventually become brains capable of processing vision. With more evolution, mutations & natural selection, it all builds up and you get intelligence.

  • Great indeed , they have created a LIFE out of .... real life parts ..

  • where does dna come from??? better yet where is the intelligences coming from??/?

  • It looks like Steven Hawking was right, when he implied that there is no need for a god. Heh, we can do it ourselves. ;O) Science is so cool!

  • @befuturenow 1. Ribosome doesn't read DNA, it reads mRNA. 2. Ribosome is made up of rRNA and proteins.

So, one could make ribosome without requiring ribosome in the first place if genes for the rRNAs are available, RNA Polymerase (enzyme that makes RNA from DNA) is available, and other enzymes and proteins that make up ribosome or help to transcribe DNA and arrange the rRNA and proteins to build ribosome are available. Ribosome might not be necessary if the required proteins are available.
