'The Treasure of Nina Madre' (35 min) by Milana M Vujkov is a documentary about the work of Nina Peles- artist, child therapist & mum, made during the Notting Hill Carnival 2009. As part of Milana's 'Private Cinema' series it explores the creative process of artists within the intimacy of their environment. Examining the impact of personal mythology, as well as the consequences of limitations set by realities of private, social and geographical destiny, the series focuses on artistic expression as a therapeutic tool. The aim of 'Private Cinema' is to promote the idea of 'temenos', the sacred imaginal space/time continuum the art of filmmaking could invoke in the filmmaker/spectator/subject, blurring the boundaries between them, as well as to explore ways the emotional impact of such an approach could be utilized in Integrative Arts Therapy.
Very intriguing!
