@gruntymanx100 First of all did you even read the post above this? And second. iPod doesn't have 4.2.8. That is a iPhone 4 Firmware.

@DNA64Productions it is 4.2.8 to 4.3.3 for your ipod to be compatible... not 4.2.1 to 4.3.3

I don't understand how this works. When you update to the new firmware, wouldnt activator be taken off? How would you jailbreak then?

If you're having issues doing any of this because your home button is broken already, and your iPhone has a passcode or you can put a passcode on the device. Then all you need to do is hit Emergency Call, then the back arrow, then enter your passcode, and you'll be on the home screen. Do this anytime you need to press the home button.

@DNA64Productions This is a great tip, thanks for sharing! Another thing you can do is wait for IOS 5 (or find a way to get your UUID registered with a developer). There's a new setting that gives you an overlay with several options such as locking, home button, and volume controls. This does not require a jailbreak either.
