Sergio Valente, 44, is the President and CEO of DDB Brasil, one of the most awarded ad agencies in the world and one of the five largest Brazilian agencies, and he is a partner at ABC Group, the 20th largest communication group in the world.
With more than 20 years of experience in Advertising, Valente has, nevertheless, a background in other fields: he graduated both in Civil Engineering and Business.
In 1994 Valente joined DDB Brasil as a copywriter and after six years became its Creative Director. In 2001 he joined Publicis as Creative VP but he would soon get back to DM9DDB in 2002 as Creative VP, and in January 2005 was named President and CEO.
It was under Sergios leadership that in the last week DDB Brasil won the fourth title Agency of The Year at Cannes International Advertising Festival, also the title of Interactive Agency of The Year in 2005 and reached the current mark of 83 Lions.
In 2004 he was elected Adman of the Year by Colunistas Awards, and in 2007 was named Creative Professional of the Year at the Brazilian Professional Contribution Awards, organized by Advertising Professionals Association. He had been a Film jury member at Cannes Festival and this year served as a jury at Titanium & Integrated Lions.In 2009, DDB Brasil won the fifth title Agency of the Year
Valente is one of the most considered professionals in Brazil, mixing outstanding creative skills and a sharp eye for business and campaign results. The agency has won ten new accounts in the last 18 months, , including Intel, Unilever/Kibon, Whirlpool (Brastemp and Consul), fashion retailer C&A, Guarana Antarctica (soft drinks) and Sadia (frozen foods).
