Warning: I am not encouraging people to purchase pre-owned cosmetics or sharing them with others. I actually would advise otherwise. But I do know there are people out there who, if not buy used makeup, at least share them with friends, family, etc; so here's a little 'how to' to discourage the spread of bacterias. =]

My choices of sanitizing lipsticks may be off, but I am just listing all the ways that I know and heard from other fellow MAC/Cosmetic Addicts. It's /your/ choice do things however way you like. (Hey, 21st century YouTube here. =])

As several people mentioned, I did forget to bring to attention the necessity of sanitizing the caps of the lipsticks/lip glosses. So please do clean them well as those pesky germs may be nesting there.

You'll need...

- Used Lipstick
- Paper towel
- Spray on alcohol

  • Thanks for being stereotypical.

    '

    1) Thanks for the information, but more than just 'herpes' there's so many other diseases that can be spread. If you go to any makeup artistry school, you'll learn that sanitizing your makeup is an important aspect for your own and client's skin.

  • 2) I'm sorry that you feel that way, but like I repeated quite a few times, it's more than just BUYING used makeup, it's also when you let an MA do your makeup or when you share your makeup. Please learn to READ, or is that too difficult for your brain?

  • 3)I am NOT Taiwanese, learn your facts before making a stereotypical fool out of yourself.

I do not have a LV purse nor do I endorse purchasing imitation brand names. Also, I don't see how that would make me a 'slut,' but I guess you must have a lot of experience in that area to feel so comfortable calling others by that name.

Please take your racist and ignorant attitude off of my page if you so dislike me, because honestly, you're not welcomed either.

  • thank you for this video, very useful

when you use alcohol, do you mean a special concentrate formula or anything like just standard vodka from a liquor store?

sorry if thats a dumb question but i really don't know

i have standard vodka that is 40% alcohol, is that not strong enough?

  • ps.. salmonella in your eye??

  • thanks for the video, very helpful, but maybe we can skip the minute and a half of herpes talk lol

  • @SashaSimone07 Lol, I obviously know that but it's absolutely ridiculous to stigmatize it as if it's leprosy considering how common it is. That's all I was trying to say.

  • @MsAarynZhou a cold sore is another form of the herpes virus.

  • I think you're being a little overdramatic about the 'herpes'. They're just cold sores. Most people I know have had cold sores before and it shouldn't be stigmatized at all. That being said, there are a lot of gross germs (more dangerous than cold sores) that could survive on lipsticks so sanitizing used make-up products is very important.

  • Haha, no you ask a makeup artist if they can sanitize if for you, some makeup stores like Sephora will have a sanitizing bottle. (:

  • how about when your at the shop and want to try on the colour? is it okay to just wipe off the top part?! isnt that okay?! OMG i dont want herpes....

  • i have some used csmetics to sell on ebay, how do u sanitize dry cosmetics such as eyeshadows? check out my stuff on ebay, high end cosmetics will be listed soon! ebay ID is holmbridge

  • why dont u just buy new makeup from at least dollar tree
