  • it took about 10 minutes. it was noon and 90 degrees out. if you use plexiglas or a double pane window the box will get much hotter. i used plastic wrap

  • Could you send me a detailed explanation on how to make it?

  • it is a shoe box with the outside surfaces lined with rolled up newspaper that is tape on. The inside was painted black. the opening is covered with platic wrap and the lide has some aluminum foil taped to it for extra sunlight(which was not really worth it)

  • Wouldn't it be better to line the inside with a white paint or aluminum foil so less heat is absorbed by the box?

  • Your thinking of an array of mirrors. If all of the sunlight was concentrated on the food then you could cook it. but this is an oven. the hotter the inside of the box the better. Have you ever sat inside a black interior car? It gets really hot very quickly.
