Today I show a problem I've not seen on an Atari Lynx before and I can't find any information about this either but it's definitely something to check before throwing in the towel.

For reference, if you DO have a faulty MOSFET in your Lynx, the original part is Q12 on the PCB (Q13 on the Lynx 1 I think) and the part number is MTD3055E. The modern replacement for this would be STD12N06. Of course as this video shows, it's not always this part at fault so try everything you can before you go hunting one of these down!

  • Hi, I have a Lynx 2 that won't turn on with batteries or using the PSU. If I connect that wire from battery point to headphones can I leave it there as a permanent fix (if it works) and use my PSU as normal? Thanks!

  • @P5ychoFox Yes you can but just be aware that your Lynx will turn on as soon as you apply power!

BTW, if you still can't get it working and decide to sell it I'd be interested -_^

  • great video got 2 of these cheap on ebay about 6 months back and both would not power up will give your methods a try thanks mate first video i have seen about repairing the lynx.

  • @2009kenji82 Yeah the Lynx doesn't get as much love as it should IMHO. Keep us posted on how you get on with yours!

  • Nice job mate, if anything you should maybe show the lcd replacement if it comes down to that. = )

  • @OldSchoolNYCGamer I probably will if I ever find a replacment LCD, though chances of that I guess are pretty slim -_-'

  • @RetroRepair Thanks mate!

  • Hi mate, I have an issue with my Lynx Mark 1's LCD screen and have put up a vid as a reply on your 'Lynx power repair' post on the Atari Age forum. Please could you take a look and offer any advice before I blunder in and break something :) Thanks!
