ROOT CAUSES OF DISCRIMINATION AGAINST HOMOSEXUALS:

Firstly, some people, mostly religious people, say that God and the bible speak against gay people. It is often considered a 'sin', and as you will see from the video, many religious protests have taken place, often with signs such as 'God hates gays', or that homosexual people will go to hell, not heaven. Also, there is a sort of skewed perception of homosexuality, that it is a choice, and that gay people are committing a sin by choosing a gay lifestyle.

As well, many people think that by allowing gay marriage, this will subtract from the marriage between a man and a women. Again, many religious people say that gay marriage will make a heterosexual marriage mean nothing, or no longer be a special relationship.

Also, most important people today, (business leaders, politicians) were raised by parents who grew up in a very discriminatory society. Gay marriage was only legal in Canada in 2005, and a lot of the important voices we hear, especially in government are from people born in the 50's, 60's and 70's, times when gay marriage wasn't even thought of. Therefore, it is only natural that they will have these 'old fashioned' beliefs, and that they will carry on promoting these beliefs today.

Even today, parents who grew up hearing these anti homosexual thoughts will likely continue these messages towards their children, causing their children to become discriminatory.

WHAT YOU CAN DO:

- Start a petition or a letter writing campaign at your school
- You can direct this petition to a governor or other politician to help change
anti - homosexual laws (ex. gay marriage)
- Make a donation or join non profit organizations that help promote human rights (ex. 'International Gay and Lesbian Human Rights Commission', or the
'International Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer Youth and Student Organization')
- Join the homosexual rights club at your school to help raise awareness

  • Who was the woman on Ellen who the whole audience were listening to in disbelief?

  • @supermariobubba You can go to jail for thos threats and then you gunna burn in hell for judging

  • @supermariobubba For someone who is supposed to be following the word of God, you sure hold a great deal of anger. For your information, I am female, so your threat is meaningless. I'm sorry that you have so much anger in you that you felt the need to attack someone who has in no way directly harmed you. I hope that you can find happiness before you hurt someone who wouldn't be able to handle it. You are now blocked from ever contacting me again.

  • great job on the video thx for making it, we relly do gotta do something about all the hate and discrimination

  • thank you very much for making this video. Homosexuality is NOT sin. They are not possed by demons. They are people who have a different sexual preference. The hatred agains these people needs to end. Now. And it's people like you who are helping to make that possible. So thank you, very much.

  • So inspirational!

It's really opened my mind on gay discrimination.

Thank you so much for this effort!
