  • Hi biglmac: There is more to oxytocin than orgasms.

Studies show that eye contact between 2 people with feeling of trust releases or modulates OxyT secretion.

Having an orgasm alone is only touching yourself. You need to be touched and touch another to get the OxyT

    effect.

    Any comments or other questions?

  • Hi, I was wondering about something I've heard numerous times on TV. I hear that when two people have sex (specifically as opposed to an orgasm when alone), they release oxytocin. I was wondering, how does the body know the difference between an orgasm alone and with someone? And if that's true, then is there a way two people can have the same effect without having sex?

Basically, I'm not convinced. But I'm open to the notion that I may just not understand it. Please clarify.

  • @bloodymarry667 Of course, Love is a human emotion after all. If it wasn't chemical, they wouldn't call it chemistry. :P But all in all, that is the biggest part of love.

  • Does anyone know how much oxytocin is needed to induce an effect? I got this pheromone spray with 4000 mcg of oxytocin in a 14ml bottle. Is this enough? Everytime I smell itI get kind of "flashed" (hard to describe) but I don't know if it's the oxytocin or one of the other components or even only psychosomatic. Can anyone help?

  • One of the significant aspects of oxytocin that researchers continue to fail to acknowledge is that oxytocin is known as the "anti-stress" hormone. Considering that 80-90% of diseases and disorders are related to stress it seems especially pressing that we consider just how significant the potential therapeutic uses of oxytocin could be. There is a very informative interview with Chemistry of Connection author Susan Kuchinskas available at Oxytocin Central

  • yes but is a doctor really going to give a perscription for this unless theres a real medical reason? (UK)
