Nearly simultaneous to the presentation of the Concept A-CLASS in Shanghai, the concept was presented at the New York Auto Show 2011.

Joachim Schmidt, Head of Sales and Marketing at Mercedes-Benz Cars, was interrupted shortly before the unveiling of the concept car by an audience member, which started to sing the famous song "Oh Lord, won´t you buy me a..." by Janis Joplin from 1971. Step by step, more and more guests of the press conference joined the song.

At the end of the spontaneous performance, the Song "Benz" by singer and songwriter Estelle, rapper and producer David Banner and musician Daley raised. Inspired by the world-famous classic by Janis Joplin, the three artists created a hommage to the brand with the star and presented it live during the Mercedes-Benz press conference in Shanghai for the first time.
