@skeptictom818 Bill Gates does one step better than writing bigger checks to the government.... He gives to charity. (And he does this a LOT in proportion to his income.) Thus he chooses for himself where the money goes, and he has every right to do so. There may be lots of reasons not to like Bill Gates, but "being a scrooge" isn't one of them.

The thing i find funny is people like Bill Gates and Warren Buffet who are willing to pay higher taxes. They want the government to force them. If they really wanted to pay more, then what is stoping them from writing a check to the government. Not to hate on Bill Gates since I probably wouldn't be typing this without him.

In a truely free society, no they shouldn't . Nobody should be force to pay taxes in a free society that is.
In the society we live, which isn't free by a long shot, rich people who got their wealth through protection from the government should be forced to pay higher taxes.

Let's review!
During Clinton, we had trillions of dollars in surplus
During Bush, the rich were given tax cuts
Now, we are trillions of dollars in debt.
Can anybody see the problem here?
