However, numerous factors prevent the state's government to protect and defend these woodlands from opportunistic and greedy loggers who aim for short - term financial benefits at the expense of long - term ecological and societal consequences. Today, word goes around about how presidentiables would help alleviate poverty, eradicate corruption, improve the quality of life, etc. Noble these goals may be, a true public servant must also tackle issues regarding the state's ecology and the problems it currently faces like, in this case, DEFORESTATION.
