Prime Minister Raila Odinga has today announced that the government will start the construction of the Lamu port project in March this year. Odinga who was speaking at a forum on innovation and entrepreneurship said the project will be the biggest infrastructure project in Kenya and Africa and it would open up Kenya to the horn and the rest of Africa. However Odinga insists that divisive politics based on ethnicity has been a great hurdle in Kenya's development and in Africa as a whole. He was speaking at the Strathmore University together with the chairman and CEO of general electric company, Jeffrey Immelt. Andrew Ochieng reports.

  • If u think an individual knows very little then you should be an example for your peers to learn from. We shouldn't wait for someone else to lay a foundation. You can lay it just as well. Lastly, history has proven that progress does not come from degrading the so called competition. Let's all indulge on progressive debates of substance.

  • i think Raila is clueless,or poorly advised on some of this issues.also watch his video from davos last week in the panel with fmr.british PM Brown. He does not have a grasp on the issues.i hope he is never elected president of kenya
