why is your oil pressure so low compared to other ls1's? The camaro I had was almost 3/4 on the gage when I started it
alexelcui 10 months ago
@alexelcui yeah it'll make 55-ish psi on COLD START. this was a warm start and normal idle pressure is 39-40 lbs. trust there is nothing wrong with my oil pressure, the car has a melling pump that is very stout.

dont you lose power at lower RPMs becuz there is no back pressure????
tmakidd0703 1 year ago
@tmakidd0703 no. it's pretty widely known that "back pressure" is an old wives tale. there is no such thing as back pressure, it's a term people use to explain what they don't understand. exhaust gas velocity is what determines torque curve. smaller diameter pipe/smaller internal volume = higher gas velocity. at low rpm's this helps torque but at high rpm it hurts hp. my system has 1 3/4" primary headers, so i still get velocity, and at high rpms i have little restriction.
