Marvellous and Vauxhall created this highly engaging and very hip application to support the launch of the 'Pop Art' campaign for the new Corsa to stunning results.
The Pop Art Idol application allows users to take a photo and manipulate it into a work of iconic-looking art in the style of Lichtenstein or Warhol -- either via Facebook or on their iPhones. Corsa-fan artists were also invited to recut the Pop Art TV spot to star themselves and mates via an interactive flash version of the ad within the application.
Finally, users were invited to submit their artworks to the Corsa Pop Art Idol Facebook Gallery where they were voted on for a chance to win their works reproduced on canvas or to star in the Corsa Pop Art TV spot for real. The campaign was a runaway success with 21,700 Facebook fans, over 2,000 iPhone app downloads and more than 3,100 works of pop art entered into the competition. Standalone versions of each application remain live now that the competition has ended.
