This song was written for our good friend Sarah McNair who left this life much too soon for our liking.
I was sitting under her picture about 2 years after we lost her, strumming on her Partner Linda's Baby Taylor guitar.
Linda was called away to the telephone in her office. There was that white-light flash of inspiration...
Shortly after that, my hands were playing chord combinations that were new to me and bits of broken lyrics just came.
I knew it came from Sarah-Like a sister to me (a gifted musician and great humanitarian).
Just as quickly, the beautiful light faded. Then it was up to me to remember what I had just heard, and to get it down. Linda and I gave it a run-through in the music studio a few minutes after that.
The basic idea for the tune and lyrics came in just a few minutes.
I got to play it at Mid Night at the 2006 Virgo Party with Linda and and those wonderful Virgo Party Girls (and Boys) playing and singing along. It doesn't get much better than that!
A year or so later I had a decent demo recorded, and played it for a few friends.
They basically all had the same reaction. They felt strongly about missing someone who was no longer on this earth. Our friend Daniel from California listened to it just once and said, "It makes me think of my Mother".

So even though this song was written for (and perhaps even by) Sarah, I think she would be happy in knowing her song could move so many people in such a loving way. That's really what she was all about.
And that's why you will always be with us Sarah Leslie McNair...
Still in our hearts and now "forever dancing in the sky".
