"Lights out at the Garden". Bruins and Oilers play Game 4 of the 88 Cup Finals in the fog at Boston Garden until the game is stopped by a power failure, on May 24, 1988. Aired as part of the Bruins Classics Showdown on NESN.

  • The penalty on Bourque was so fucking dumb! Bourque checked the guy but he falls before with the contact on the goalie. I'm still pissed about that one!

  • @EdRacer71 And since 1990, we haven't come close to getting a sniff of the Stanley Cup. That was until we beat those Vancouver Cunt-Nucks last year for the Stanley Cup.

  • @Jiltedin2007 the '90 for me REALLY stung. The ONE game I got to watch that year's playoffs on the Armed Forces Network from Pirmasens, Germany was game 5! But, you know what? I just bought a Mitchell & Ness repro jersey with that same Stanley Cup Finals patch on it! Now I am trying to figure out who's name & number to put on it...

  • @EdRacer71 I hear you, but you have to admit that painful memories like losing the Stanley Cup must be exorcised. 1990 was even worse! We played these same Oilers in the Stanley Cup Finals, but without "The Great Gretzky" who was traded to Los Angeles after this Final. But what hurt most about 1990 was the fact that this time we had the Home Ice Advantage and we still got annihilated, but in 5 games.

  • @Jiltedin2007 I never want to erase the memories from this series...even as a Bruins fan! The day of this game I had cut class to take a trip up to Boston to see if I could at least maybe get a t-shirt or something at the Garden. Ended up. by pure luck, seeing the Stanley Cup on display at the Hotel down at the beginning of Newbury Street. Sucked to see them lose, but, at the time, wouldn't trade that day for anything!

  • Boston Garden - greatest sports arena EVER

  • @jarcar101

They were following NHL by-laws as this game was unable to be finished due to reasons beyond control of the teams the game is made up (if neccasary) at the end of the series in the rink where the original game started. So the series continued with the the new game 4 in Edmonton. This gane was nt needed to be made up as the series ended before that point

  • good old freddy cusick, i dont think he ever learned how to say beukeboom, rip!

  • Memories like these get quickly erased after winning a Stanley Cup.

Boston Bruins - 2011 STANLEY CUP CHAMPIONS!

  • That is why a fast skating team like the Vancouver Canucks suffer when they play in Boston - they have to lug half a pound of slush and snow on every pass they make and imagine skating on that stuff. Only the Bruins can do that. The wimp president of the league gave it to Boston this year and it will be their last one!
