Kohler still makes a few magnum engines. they may seem outdated, but they're a tank compared to a honda. Who knows how much longer they'll be around and there will never be anything like them again. My dad bought a welder with a kohler K241 36 years ago and it still runs like clockwork. One of my favorite engines.

Hondas are great and I'd rather have one than a Briggs. I think I'm going to love my GX390. But, a Honda will not be worth rebuilding when it gets tired. A new one would be cheaper. But you use an old cast iron Kohler-K or Wisconsin for 20 or 30 years and they are well worth a rebuild for another 20. If I'm buying new, I will prefer a Honda up to 12hp. Any bigger and I'll go with a Kohler if possible. The 13hp and up Kohlers are made in USA.

thats a honda for you, first pull everytime

horizontal kohler v twins are shocking they burn to mutch oil and break quickly, but the vertical ones seem ok. the best v twin engine i have ever seen is a robin subaru fuel injected v twin that was soo good

u just cant beat the honda gx line. the briggs intec's are good but the carbs bloc up and they are easy to stall, the clones are good if u only want a 2 season engine but yeh u get what u pay for and thats a honda

have a Honda GX340 on a pressure washer for about 12 years.. the only thing i changed was a air filter ... work about 2 to 3 times a week... briggs are good have a briggs gen.. for 9 years no pro...
Im not impressed with the honda engines. They are good engines but I dont feel they are superior to anything. I like briggs and stratton the best. I love my 14.5 I/C. Its been used commercially in a non commercial mower since it was new in 2000. I dont think it ever had the oil changed until i got ahold of it in 05. Now I change it every season. Its been a great engine.

well i respect your opion. but honestly. my honda will start better, last longer, use less gas and perform better than yours will i can bet on that. have you ever had a honda? and i wouldent say briggs is the best. i like briggs and honda. there my favorite. but seriously. we all know that hondas are the best engines made so far. when you come up with some facts proving that briggs is better ill think differently but for now in my opion, honda is the best. but again. i respect your opion

I forgot to mention that I do have two hondas. A GX340 like yours and a GX390. They are great engines like I said I just dont feel they are superior like they are made out to be. I do not use my 11 anymore (the 340) but the 13 (390) is on my pressure washer. The 11 was not enough for it. My GX390 has developed a small crack in the block and is leaking a very small amount of oil. Other than that i cannot complain about it nor the Briggs and Stratton either

well. i think you have to admit. theres a better chance of a briggs leaving than a honda. i prefer hondas. the new briggs are screwed up. they sound soo sick. because of the carbs. but idk. maybe hondas are like that too. darn EPA i hate them!

@torque395 they last longer, and they use loads less fuel, briggs are heavy on the fuel in comparison

@fergfergferg123 Very True, But Briggs and Stratton makes a great engine also.
