A demonstration in NYC through SoHo against the capital execution of Troy Davis on September 23, 2011. The police blocked the demonstrators at Broome Street and Thompson in Soho. Once the crowd reached the blockade the police rushed the crowd. It felt like we were all gong to be arrested. The police went around to everyone and told us to get off of the sidewalk (and move into the street?) Then the police captain opened the blockade and the crowd dispersed. The police followed most of the people in all directions on foot and on their little scooters. They had a paddy wagon and several vans and drove around the neighborhood afterwards. I guess they handled it, but it seemed weird. It is sad to see our government supporting violence. The demonstrators were completely peaceful.
