You are quite right about the marketing ploy, although its not really aimed at hippies(Hippies were the counter couture back then,they were looked on with distrust by older people) so much as to the younger generation of girls .
This commercial is a small window to History,as far as what was going on with the Bohemian music and fashion that had by 1970 was entering mainstream society. tho I must disagree with the music, its more Blood Sweat and Tears, than Zeppelin.

Oh gosh, when I first saw the icon for this video, for a half second I thought it was Linda Blair from The Exorcist. Scared the crap out of me xD

Groovy commerical music..back when it was clever to use catchy tunes to keep the product in your head...

Thanks again for these commercials....I actually remember my mom having one of those lipsticks. Love the natural makeup look from the 70's.
