@MinionBooBoo Actually there have been a number of successful American adaptations of British shows. The most successful in recent years, of course, is The Office, but there have been others, such as Three's Company and All in the Family

@squall600 The original L&O series had a rotating cast for many years over its over 20 years of history so it doesn't surprise me that after 12 years that Meloni would want to move on. 12 years is a long time in television terms.

@MinionBooBoo even the U.S. version is changing. Christopher Meloni who played detective elliot stabler has now left the law & order: SVU series after being in the show for almost 12 years. He was the heart of the series, sad he had to leave although it was christophers choice because he now wants to persue a more serious acting career in movies now.

@squall600 I'm very proud of the UK Law and Order series, it's not very easy transforming same stories with different types of law system but they make it work and the cast chemistry is wonderful. They recently had to deal with some cast changes, and just this new series, they lost one of the original cast member, Jamie Bamber who played Matt Devlin. But the exit (or death) the character was given was so true to the core of the character, and the aftermath was so tear-jerking

I'm from the US and I agree, this show is awesome! Can't wait til they hopefully release Season 2 on DVD!
