Nikolaj Orloff (or Nicolas or Nikolai) (1892-1964) is a now rarely-heard Russian concert pianist, who was considered among the great pianists of his time. Among his few recordings are this mid 1920's Ampico reproducing piano roll in which he performs Brahms Rhapsody Op. 79 No. 1 in B-minor. The performance is heard on a very late Ampico A, an artcase walnut 1928 Knabe 5'8" Ampico grand that was owned by the Metropolitan Opera until the 1950s, and fully restored in late 2011.
