  • This video is very well done.

  • @StreetHypnosisOz I am still learning the art of editing and video voice-overs...so thanks for the compliment. I just upgraded my computer so that I can edit HD. My next big project will be the first using the better hardward. We will see what happens. Scott!

  • We have an article coming out in Excellence Magazine very soon, and it's written by Peter Brock who is known for not-pulling-punches. From his two day visit to Renegade, he seemed very impressed with the 996 conversion. I am quite sure his review in Excellence will tell the story...

  • $20k would be all the conversion parts, gauges, etc., and a NEW complete LS3 500HP engine with all the trimmings. Labor for all of this installed in the car would be around $7000. So if you would like a slightly less powerful engine, you could save some money. Our average in-house quote on a 996 is around $25K or so turn-key ready to take home.

  • I will save you a place by the fire!!! ()-8 HAHA!

  • It certainly makes the most sense for anyone that looks outside of the box and wants all of the advantages of the LS engines. I don't think it's for everyone in every application at all, but for us and at least a few other applications, it is the most obvious choice! Cheap, reliable, simple, light weight, horse power...no drama...no attitude!

  • WOW.. I have a 1975 911S that would love to have that kind of power, and cost!..

with 2 914 and 1 911 maybe one can ....dream.

  • wow, awesomeness right there!

  • Excellent video. Scott, you're a great spokesman. Even if you exclude the money saved by not replacing or rebuilding the stock flat-6, given Porsche maintenance prices, it probably won't take long to recoup the money for the conversion at Chevy maintenance prices. My only observation regarding some of your older videos is that most car enthusiasts want the music in any car video to come from the engine, not loud music. Great job. I love Renegade Hybrids.

  • I could see a reason for the conversion, as I've looked into something called IMS failure...

  • @RenegadeHybrids The turbo engine is really robust, as are the GT3 and GT2 engines. They are the legendary Metzger. I can't say the same for the other NA engines like the M96/97 flat 6.
