@TheProgSound Usually in churches that allow some electricity, it's from a generator, not a neighbor. The point is to be *off grid*. For some the phone rule is that it's in a phone booth outside the house, not in the kitchen. They can't own/drive cars because it'd make it too easy to use frivolously and break up communities (some churches allowed it, but they fell apart after), but paying for a ride to the Emergency Room is another story.

@TheProgSound some Amish have.....*gasp*... showers! You're thinking of the stuff you learned in middle school about pioneers.

Finally AND the biggest reason they skeeve me out: They all use the same bath water...father (the dirtiest) goes first...then kids..then mom. So mom get to wash in all that filth. GRRRRROSSSS. They arent all cute like you see on tv!

Also... I was in a traffic class and one amish kid was busted for drunk carraige riding and blasting out the radio....yep the radio. He used it attached it a car battery. A lot of the amish chicks leave their hooker clothes in a barn and sneek out and change clothes. The are also the biggest asshat BYBer operating most of the puppy mills in HORRID conditions.

I cant stand the Amish that live a double standard life. The will use power tools as long as the english plug it in, they will be driven around by cars as long as the english do the driving...they will use a phone as long as the english hold it and dial it for them...they will even use an electric fridge as long as its plugged into an english neighbors electricity.

The title is a bit of a misnomer since there are Plain People who are not Amish or Old Order. But nice video!
reminds me a russian village( using horses when they plow, work in the huge gardens by hands, prepare hey. Its a hard way of living but you can be happy. the produce is fresh and natural. during summer break all the parents send the kids to the villages to stay at grandparents ( if they live in the countryside) . the best time of the year, cause you make bonfires everyday, go fishing, cooking on an open fire, go to the river, hanging out with friends ,help the grandparents. how i miss that time
