  • @dynoegg: When your car did not start while the failed ECM was still in, did you hear the starter relay click/activate when you turned the key to start position? The reason I'm asking is I believe the ECM pin 31 provides the grounding path to the starter relay pin 85. PCM provides the ground path if double start safety and neutral safety are satisfied. If correct and failed PCM is still connected, you should Not hear the starter relay click when you turn the key ignition? Can you confirm? Thx

  • @lowrideaz I wanted to keep the video a simple as possible and to my point. The process I found worked to prove that point. Which was to know if the wiring is fine and if the ECM was sending the start signal. I got continuity though out but no power on the starter line that the ECM sends when you turn the key. Relay clicked with old ECM as it should if the relay is good.

  • @lowrideaz ... ... My process may contain error if extended to apply to other things. Replacing my ECM fixed my problem ... thankfully cuz I was getting pissed at it lol.

I don't have my book near me to look at the pin & line path to confirm the ground path and how the relay fits in. I do know the ECM did not send the start signal to the starter when I turned the key.

  • I have a 2002 Caravan and it has a starting issue but after many attempts it will start I have a question, were did you get the new pcm? I would like to go with a good company. This would be of great help. Thanks!

  • @trainsonthebrains I got it from autocomputerexchange

  • I like your video. Where did you get the schematics with the pin numbers? Thanks

  • I think that I am having ECM issues as well. My problems started with a battery indicator sensor. I hooked up an analog tester and determined that the battery was good but noticed a spike in voltage from my alternator. You could also see the voltage spike affect the headIights as well as all my instruments acting crazy almost a rhythmic response. Faulty sensors pop up too. This only happen after the van is started and running for a few moments. Not immediatly upon starting. Any advice?

  • @dynoegg Thanks for the prompt reply, I understand . My mother's caravan is experiencing intermittent starting problems where when happens, starter does not engage. That's why I'm digging into the details so I can help her troublshoot asap. Thanks for the video and I'm glad you were able to pinpoint your ECM and resolve your starting issue. Thanks.

  • I CAN'T HEAR YOU THROUGH THE "BEEPING" MUSIC!!! WHY?

  • Oh, by the way, the music was nice. It relaxed me enough to want to concentrate.

  • I thought the visuals and your communication enhanced video. I liked the still shots with the titles on the parts an pin connections.

What allowed you to eliminate the starter being bad. I understand you have continuity but the starter could have been bad. Right?
