the great Fred Allen on the great Whats My Line 1953. Radio gisnt, he did fine on WML. Im s tv film historian. in knew many many great stars of yesteryear. i never knew Fred but sorry he left us in 56 at 61. I knew most of the cast of WMY however. This is classic tv. Early in his career, Fred Allen was a ventriloquist which he seems to be doing a bit here. He said in his book that he wasn't very good at it.

Oh, he was. Look up "Red Skelton--What's My Line?" for example.
Well, 62 was actually an average age in 1956 for someone to pass away. Nonetheless, he was a very funny man and was a nice addition to the panel when Steve Allen left.
