This song and album changed my life. Thanks for posting this. Too soon too much.

@Trvlbug This is authentic music for grownups.Go back to Lady Gaga and JB.
-
you really are a little bug, Trvl, if you can't hear the beauty in this.

@Trvlbug You poor soul. You poor Baby. Ohh Wahh. Looks like you don't know crap about the singing styles of vocal improvisation in Jazz and Blues music. Mary Margaret O'Hara's Album Miss America is a classic. She sings that way because it matches the fragile nature of her lyrics (just like other Indie Rock Divas: Kristin Hersh, Liz Phair, and PJ Harvey). Besides, She can sing in another way. She sings in a soft, angelic croon in other songs like Help Me Lift You Up and Keeping You In Mind.

she really sucks!!!!! listen to her - she is a freak

Devastating. Never heard anybody singing like this. Chapeau!
By the way, I understand that everybody has his/her own taste, but I'd be curious to know the three people who clicked the "thumb down" button... ?????!!!!!

Elvis Costello supposedly wrote all the songs on My Aim Is True under the influence of fistfuls of dry instant coffee and the Clash's first record. With that in mind, this sounds like a lot of "Horses" and a lot of very fine wine. Wish I could've been there.....

Her Kurt Weil rendition is simply astonishing.

Come on we've all felt exactly like this sometimes

high five! i agree- she's FAB- i'd love to see her live...!

Yeah, same.
She's so weird on stage, that it just makes her beautiful.
When you look at her, you can never really know what shes thinking, its almost like shes in her own little world, but at the same time, shes definately not unintelligent, because to write music like hers, you have to be musically inclined :P
Maybe she'll do some more tours someday, we can hope!

Thanks for posting this, Miss America is one of the greatest albums of the eighties, a forgotten jewel! And this is my favourite song on it.
