The 200 year struggle since our independence has incrementally robbed us of our confidence to make history again. The true meaning of our creed "L'union fait La force" ( unity is power) has not been lived out and frankly many begin to doubt our ability to truly unite.
This challenge, in addition to providing a much needed boost and support to Haiti educational system, seeks to give back the confidence of yes we can make history again. As our Haiti remains on life support we can't afford to have anyone, yes not even you, on the sidelines. Please join in by making your 1 dollar donation now

  • @fourcorneredroom are you talking to me or the organization? send them an email if you need more info.

  • OK. let's make this clear....slogans, flowery words, invoking Haitian patriotism do not equal logistical experience, management skills, efficiency, or competence.

There is NOTHING on the website that leads me to think that this group will spend my investment dollar any better than ANY other group/person that has the same intentions. Investment, because we invest in the future of Haiti.

What void exists that made you start a group rather than helping an existing group?

  • @fourcorneredroom Why are you telling me good luck?

I read this on the Color of Hope facebook page

Your task is to live a life of joy. If in the process you are able to share your vision of the world and of your experience with another, then do so. But do not think badly of them if they do not see your point of view. A point of view is exactly that. John Payne

Just wanted to share this with you

  • Thanks.

    Good Luck.

After reading the FAQ and About Us sections of the site, my views are the same as before.

  • @fourcorneredroom Your frustration is certainly heard through these lines. There is a healthy way to redirect our frustrations but we should avoid directing our frustrations at each other but rather at the issues that Haiti faces. The site addresses many of your concerns colorofhope org.

  • @fourcorneredroom The intention is not to get into an emotionally charged conversation but rather to simply remind us to not be so quick to judge and to pray for trust. Judging by the questions you're now asking suggest that you didn't take the time to visit the website provided in the video before making your comment. Sometimes the information we have is too little to construct the entire puzzle and when we try to construct the puzzle with limited info we run the risk of being destructive.

  • Also this isn't to say that the organization is corrupt, but if there was some kind of track record of actually accomplishing something, and clearly defined goals for this million dollars.....people could make informed decisions.

You want us to "join together" and do "what"?

Don't invoke patriotism and then avoid reality. Hopefully the next video will address some of my points.

  • @SeLaviMovie

Maybe you didn't read what my full original post said.

I didn't say sit on the sidelines and do nothing....I said to continue contributing money and resources to groups that you have history with and that you can PERSONALLY monitor.

What do we know about this group other than that they propose things that have been said before? who runs it, what are their plans in the short term, long term, how much of the mill goes to administrative costs, how long will the mill fund the project

  • @fourcorneredroom One of the reasons why you have "heard" this type of sentiment expressed and the net result is always nothing is because me, you and many others have always stayed on the sideline and made the same comment. How about we all put a hand in this one and make sure that this time the net result is a positive force that helps to take our Haiti in a new direction. Let's try something different, what do you say?

  • sounds very good, but I'll be honest and say that I've heard this type of sentiment expressed before and the net result is always nothing.

It's best to send money and resources to people/groups that you know personally who travel back and forth to Haiti on a regular basis.

I wish this organization luck though.
