A big thunderstorm boomed and flashed its way over the Bright Angel Campground (near Phantom Ranch), and quickly filled the Bright Angel Creek with muddy runoff. The Park Ranger was cool; he said the creek was only up a couple of feet, maybe.
You can hear the fist-sized rocks clattering along, as they're moved by the current. The Ranger says it's not anything to worry about until the breadbox-sized rocks are moving downstream. Apparently that only happens once a year, on average.
WOW!!! Very different from when Joe and I were there last November; we saw a clear, gentle creek, but that is awesome.
