Pritchards Hummingbird babies 6

Freedom! We let the big hummer out and she's so ready for it....no hesitation as she heads for the trees and starts exploring. She came back to the feeder quite a few times after she was released, but we don't know yet if she'll return for the night!

She didn't come back that night, but she was waiting for me in the morning. She flew in and landed on my shoulder and did her hungry dance. She's been back a few times to drink out of our feeder, but she hasn't come back into the tent. I really hope she comes back next year!

Side note: they came back the next summer, my brother was outside at the feeder and a hummingbird came and landed on it, unafraid. He walked up to it and put his hand out for it and it jumped out onto his finger, let him pet it and everything.

Did she come back for the night? I've read they return to the same area where they were born to build their nests. Maybe you will have another crew or two next year!
