worked in TV, Ellen WOULD need it on set (the lighting) as do (surprise) male experts in politics and everything else....but to sell makeup to a new "group" there's advertising for you....painting actresses, the dark skin does not need the makeup, except again, for the hot lights of TV for glamour eyes or lips in playing a character,the darker actresses have more flawless skin....in a pale person a blemish or flaw, really shows up. have fun with it but not a NEED. you look great without any.

wonderful discussion, it goes beyond black and white it is about women and control issues. many become too thin because of this, or make the hair curly or straight, it is in white america too....it is the objectification of women in general. and false "programming" by television to a sort of "perfectionism" that is unrealistic and unhealthy, tell your niece those people are "on TV" and not real. be well. and enjoy the cake.

also I was surprised at the health risks of cosmetics, I thought all this fun stuff was safe....there are hormone disruptors in hair straighteners, and cosmetics and so forth that cause early puberty in girls and cancer risk, who knew.....so natural is best for all.

I had to laugh the other day they are promoting unnecessary make up foundation with ellen.....even straight women used to think, hey ellen does not need makeup, high heels or the standard image to have her tv show......gotta love the self.
