The preservation of our ancestors burial sites is a continuing process. Each day we see nature reclaiming these sites when they are not taken card of regularly.
In Indian Territory the gravesites of formerly enslaved people of the so called Five Civilized Tribes are at risk! There are efforts by groups and individuals to care for these sacred sites, and in the Choctaw Nation a joint effort is underway by the tribe and a group of Chickasaw and Choctaw freedmen descendants led by Verdie Triplett.
More attention to these sites is necessary and in many cases it can be argued these burial grounds should be protected as National and State historical sites.
We have dedicated this video to those efforts and ask those of you who have an interest in historical preservation to volunteer in your area and form a clean up crew for these sites.
We are listing some sites that deserve attention at:

These are my people too. My great grandmother from Jacksonville, GA lived on a reservation.
This story bring tears to my eyes. A great story.

@choctaw551 Greetings, you are correct this story should have been told a long time ago which is why WE have an obligation to tell it now!
WE have the multi-media technology to tell this story and make sure it is preserved for future generations. The first step in that process is for YOU to tell your family's story!
I have taken the position that if I tell the larger story, my family's personal story will emerge as a part of the whole. For that story to be complete we need to hear your's!
