Larissa Volokhonsky and Richard Pevear, renowned translators of Dostoevsky, Tolstoy, Bulgakov, Golgol, and others, came at the invitation of the American University of Paris Department of Comparative Liteature and English, the Center for Writers and Translators, and the MA in Cultural Translation, to discuss and read from their forthcoming translation of the stories of Nikolai Leskov. Here, Larissa Volokhonsky reads from Leskov's sensual "Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk," one of his best-known and best-loved stories.
