vertical space violations are ludicrous in my opinion; if I have better positioning then i'm going to be in your vertical space before you are...simple as that

If you _really_ have better position than your defender, and you _really_ can jump higher than he can, then you _don't_ need to bump into him in order to get to the disc first. If you have to land on him or strike his out-stretched arm to get the catch then you _weren't_ in a better position than he was. That's what Spirit of the Game _IS_. Not "win at all costs" but "win by playing better". Playing better does not mean more physical.

@therushingman And thus The Spirit of the Game died. Ultimate is a _non contact_ sport. If you want to play full contact where position is everything, then Ultimate is not the game for you. The problem is not the game, the problem is not the rules. The problem is _your attitude_ because you want to turn something into what it is not because that's what suits you -- regardless of what impact that has on anyone else. Typical Gen Y self-centered I'm a Unique Snowflake nonsense.
