@NYTIMES314 Imagine you live in a world where there is never any darkness and that it has been this way for longer than your civilization has even existed. In a world of perpetual sunlight where people don't even go into caves without getting freaked out, would anyone ever develop electric lights? Would it be considered a useful invention?
I think Asimov sets up a wonderful scenario that considers how a civilization might develop over thousands of years in perpetual sunlight...

About Asimov's short story, "Nightfall". Wonderful story, but after a while you realize it's easy to poke holes through it.
The civilization has 20th century technology -- eg "ground cars", implying planes, application of electricity. No electric lights? Does every room in a building have windows?Including the cellar?

Thats the cool thing about sci-fi you can explain that stuff because of it being on another planet :p.

Yea I liked the rest of the book, it was really interesting, i think no matter what ending they had, i would't have liked it just because it's so much build up to that point that nothing can fully satisfly haha

thats true I would have like a better ending or even for it to just made longer and finished more of the story.
