Portland Japanese Gardens on Oct. 2, 2009 during O-Tsukimi. The sand garden was raked into a checkerboard pattern for O-Tsukimi by monks. I believe the pattern is supposed to represent rice fields. The two patches of green represent a sake cup and sake container gourd.
