The Golden Calf & The 10 Commandments, Their Pre-biblical Origins

The Golden Calf is identified as a recasting of Egyptian bovine gods and goddesses associated with sun worship at the Hathor shrine at Serabit el Khadim in the Sinai. Moses' 10 Commandments are to be found at Serabit el Khadim as recast Asiatic Miner's memorials. From an Egyptian perspective the sun at sun rise is the deceased Pharaoh resurrected as a Solar Golden Calf. Thousands of tourists each year climb Mount Sinai in the dark of night to witness the morning sun rise, unaware that from an Egyptian perspective they are witnessing the resurrection back to life of a dead Pharaoh as the Golden Calf (or sun-calf) aboard the solar bark/boat sailing across a heavenly Nile! In 1921 Lina Eckenstein proposed Serabit el Khadim as Mt. Sinai. In the 1970's Dr. Zvi ilan PhD a Geographical Historian of Tel Aviv University made the same proposal. thats because the real mount sinai is in Saudi arabia, just because you cannot find it in egypt doesnt mean that the events of the Quran are untrue.

@chapuna The "real" mount Sinai will have archaeological evidence of Israel's stay there for one year. To date, 14 March 2010 no one has been able to present this proof for archaeologists to inspect. Several sites in Saudi Arabia have been proposed and all have been dismissed by their lack of archeological evidence.

You're kind of on the right track sapiensape. Have you read either "Lost Secrets of the Sacred Ark" or "Genesis of the Grail Kings" by Laurence Gardner? They are both incredible books for someone with an open mind. He discusses Serabit el Khadim in both books and what took place there. It's interesting to hear what pioneer Egyptologist Sir W.M. Flinders Petrie found there in the late 1800's.

I wouldnt dismiss the biblical account so easily for lack of evidence, if there really is any.for the longest time no one believed there were hittites for lack of archeological evidence, then one day they found them. besides, I hear people all the time saying "this prooves the bible" and others saying "its a lie"...really, they dont know. sorry...but they dont. I think archeology is a myth and we are all doomed to their interpretation of prehistoric history.my guess is as good as theirs.

It seems evident that the symbol of the calf is taken by Israelites from Egyptians as either praise or prophesy, to what description of an end, who knows.

Archaology shows that Hebrews were not chosen people and their God isn't affluent. This honor goes to the Egyptians. But it shows that one who saved real Jews from wilderness 40 days 40 nights is same God who sent Noah the benevolent Creator.The Gnostics knew about the blind God he was the bad guy.
