Jo and Bokken Demonstration by 'O Sensei 植芝 盛平

Aikido was created by Morihei Ueshiba (植芝 盛平 Ueshiba Morihei, 14 December 1883--26 April 1969), referred to by some aikido practitioners as Ōsensei ("Great Teacher"). Ueshiba envisioned aikido not only as the synthesis of his martial training, but also an expression of his personal philosophy of universal peace and reconciliation.

  • so very interesting that a man so grounded in the world and such a powerhouse is so agile. yet his students which are also very grounded are so clumsy next to him. then you compare those students to their students now and you see the same thing. oh i wish i could have studied under o sensei.

  • o sensei is awesome Ô.o

  • the way he moves with the sword and his timing is mindbowing, this is what a master swordsman looks like, hopefully this knowledge still remains...

  • Video poco chiaro e musica inadeguata, penso si possa fare di meglio, specialmente perchè si tratta di O Sensei.

  • what song is this in the beginning? it's so beautiful ;)

  • This video is amazing...i wish that aikido was taught today but the usaf keeps taking techniques off the curriculum, especially weapons...how can you not teach weapons in a martial art created for weapons defense????

  • That was amazing. Thank you for posting this.

  • His son in law, that has been my Kendo teacher ( and was a legend in Kendo) always spoke of his incredible beauty of movements. I stay in great awe

  • mongrel7mongol →Korean residents in Japan?

  • Great footage, and for the most part beautiful music. Don't get me wrong, I like the "Hello Zepp" at the end, and in some ways I think it does somewhat fit the power that O' Sensei had...but at the same time it almost seems out of place and too...violent/sinister for such a peaceful man. Either way, love the video.

Only wish I could have taken even one class under him. Thankfully, I am fortunate enough to study in the dojo of the great Gaku Homma Kancho, who I believe continues O'Sensei's work

  • o sensei was so fast, agile and fluid and not to mention powerful and skillful, aikido people move so well alot better than all those other orts outthere.

  • o sensei was the greatest and i loved the death note music too and in the o sensei 1935 video as well.
