It could be said the 7800 is better now than then. Few cared about being able to play 2600 games back then, and much of the 7800's library was arcade ports, while the NES and Master System had all sorts of cool new things. But while we now have have perfectly, at times stunningly emulated versions of many of those arcade games for PC and the latest consoles, there is something cool and fun about playing an old port on a vintage, retro system with slight dents in that silly "silver strip" thing.
@GarthMcCreery It was ment for release in 1984, but the "new" Atari wanted to concentrate on the Computer market, so it was shelved for two years and as a result; lost a lot of ground to Nintendo and Sega. (Thanks again, Tramiel.)
@GarthMcCreery Cool. Thanks again! I ended up getting a Nintendo for Christmas that year, and we thought that was so great, since it was such an improvement over the old Atari 2600. Looks like the Atari 7800 came close to matching the NES in terms of graphics and game variety, but the NES apparently won out in the long run. To my knowledge, Atari is still around, though I don't know if they still produce any game consoles. But I love these 'blasts from the past.' found on YouTube.
