NY Gov Picks Upstate NY Congresswoman to Senate

Gov. David Paterson has appointed Democratic U.S. Rep. Kirsten Gillibrand to fill New York's vacant Senate seat. The appointment requires no further confirmation. (Jan. 23)

According to New York Now's website, Hillary Clinton had 67% rate her at a grade of C or worse. Gillbrand said she wants to follow inher footsteps....figure it out. I'm running in 2010 and represent New York and am NOT a political pick of the party (I'm Democratic)

I've read Gillibrand has an abrasive reputation with other colleagues and now I can see why.The unpolished and loud way she responded to Gov. Patterson notifying her that the President was on the phone, was tactless,stupid and crude.The AP reporter's attempt to put the Kennedy fiasco at the feet of the Patterson administration is silly. If anything he showed guts not backing down to the Prez and Sen. Ted Kennedy. He can now call in favors from the upstate Dems later when he runs for Gov.Smart!

Gillibrand has voted in support of trophy hunting of polar bears and has a below

average FAILING score of 58 amongst both the Democratic and greater NY congressional members. More info on her votes are available at HumaneScorecard (dot)org Gillibrand wanted to make "Hunting and Fishing Day" a national holiday. She uses taxpayer funds to subsidize the huters' "hobby". What a redneck kook. She embrasses all upstaters.

Gillibrand is a terrible choice IMHO. I'm OK with her being pro-gun, but her 100% rating with the NRA is scary (I half-kiddingly say that membership in the NRA should be enough to bar one from ever owning a gun).

Most of all I loathe her fanatical pro-hunting position, and tax-funded subsidies to promote hunting, the pork she put in the farm bill, and her support of the disgustingly mis-named H.R. 2016 which effectivly seeks to turn all public land into game parks.
