These pictures are of the construction of the Forth Bridge which were taken from a book I rescued from a wheelie bin as it was about ready to be dumped into a truck for recycling. The information taken from what was left of the cover was titled "The Forth Bridge" A Picture History 1890 to 1990 by Sheila Mackay The publishers of the book are "Moubray House Publishers" Tweeddale Court 14 High Street Edinburgh.
The music is supplied by the late John Barry who was the undisputed king of the film score and who will be sadly missed.
The first track is the movie score taken from the film "Raise the Titanic". Track No2 and 3 is the superb "Dances with Wolves" John Dunbar theme from the film. Bearing in mind when the bridge was built at the turn of the century Photography was still in it's infancy and it's a wonder we have these images at all.
I do not own or intend to imply that I have any rights to these pictures or music I just thought that it would make a nice little video to share with everyone.. . . hope you enjoy it.
I would also like it to be a tribute to the very brave and hardy souls who constructed this unique and iconic Scottish landmark. And to the unfortunate men who lost their lives during it's seven year construction. This monument to them will live on for many more years to come.

  • Fantastic posting. If only all YT videos were like this

  • An excellent series of pics there and with a fitting piece of music. Good work and a fitting tribute to one of Scotland's iconic structures. I find it very hard to imagine just how incredible it must have seemed at the time given how imposing it's size and style of construction is all these years later - a truly phenomenal feat of engineering, no question.
