  • ...Seems all the SHARP stuff I ever saw was Chinese...like the KENT...

  • @dougspair I believe you are correct. Most all castings are from China or Taiwan.

Wilton and Jet might be a couple of other manufacturers that are in that same class. The Sharp lathe was here before I arrived and it is the only thing that I can afford until another machine manufacturer comes along and donates to our program. Thanks for your comment.

  • Nice sleeves you have there pal. Be carefull.

  • @MethshockFilms Your right never operate a lathe with long sleeves. I have them rolled up like I've been doing for over 30 years. If you ever had a hot metal chip land just above your elbow before you know you need some sort of protection. Shields are best but when I first started out my first employer did want to spend the money on them.

  • Dude use a rubber mallet to install your tailstock chuck.

  • @TheManFromAlaska You are correct you could use one to make sure it is place. I was trying to NOT use one because I wanted the students to see the correct way of installing one. If the tailstock spindle taper was not so worn it would have grabbed in the first time. Thanks for your comment.

  • 0:50 i always have that in school XD

  • @dukestudentshop I've only worked with a lathe twice in my entire life, and i've finally witnessed how goddamn lethal they can be. But yeah, your employer dind't want to spend money on shields? Damn, that's messed up,

    Spin-on! :)
