@goldspout : I've been writing a musicological anthology of popular haitian music for years. You should see my notes on « Maria ». On the personal side, it INVARIABLY works it's effect on my folks and aunts and uncles and older cousins. My folks are friends of some in the band, since the Shleu Shleu days, and later, they used to make many parties when I was a kid in the late 70s.

My dad, who isn't a very avid mélomane, stopped speaking once at dinner, as my iPod played this song. The smile on his face ! lol
