The times simply past Griffiths by. That's why Rollergames died. That and his refusal to allow anyone to encroach on his monopoly of the sport after Seltzer sold it to him. This iron grip and total inclusiveness combined with the fact that he was completely out of touch with America post 1963 and you see why it died and never truely recovered.
That and refusing to pass the torch to the next generation.
I grew up with roller derby in the 70's and 80's. They should have presented it like a sport. It seemed like they tried to, but when they "sold out" and did that ridiculous Roller Games thing with the figure 8 track and the alligator pit or whatever, I was done. Games, match races, managers, and interviews were the foundation of what made it awesome. I miss it.
Empty seats and no money. Why??? They did not keep playing as Roller Derby and kept it as a sport. People wont pay for all side shows. I skated with the LA-T-Birds from 1964-65-66 and we kept it as a sport and sold out everywhere. We had 10-22,000 paid fans often and people loved it.
talented? her? Judy Arnold would have mopped the track with fat ass.

They're lucky they don't get fucking killed doing this shit. One high speed crash the wrong way into one of those track posts is all it would take.
