"Blue pike" is what these were called, even though "walleye", plenty of people still call walleye "walleyed pike."

The blue walleye (pike) as a subspecies of walleye is extinct; there are still walleyes that are not genetically distinct from Sander vitreus, but which simply have a blue coloring to them..
