Do they have the BMW 767i on display I wonder?
That was a V16 engined BMW 7 series in 1987 which never went beyond prototype stage. The engine called "Goldfish" and was so long they had to fit the radiators at the back, thereby making the trunk unusable.
It simply wouldn't fit to a normal E32 and since the normal V12 model was more than enough at the time, it was never seriously considered for production.

Actually NOT the same one, but it was used a template for the engine BMW did design for the F1.
BMW did offer Gordon Murray to consider the engine of the M8 but it was much too heavy for what he had in mind (extreme light weight was one of his prime directives designing the car).
In short the engine is the M8 was the S70, whereas the McLaren F1 used the S70/2 in the roadcars and the S70/3 in the racecars (the F1 GTR).

too bad there's no space for the popping head lights like on the 850s
Yeah.. retarded. BMW NEEDS to remake the 8-Series. Make it a supercar, that will look better than the R8. As for the rest, like performance, handling, and such BMW has no problem beating Audi/VW at that game
