Believe that, you'll believe anything!
But seriously folks, when the "feeding hatches" didn't "hold water", I could have cut the glass boxes off and put rubber bungs in the holes. But on a whim, I cut 3 small pieces of 4mm glass and enclosed the open upper section of the box.
Took half the water from one of my other aquariums and installed an external bio-filter.30 minutes later these 2 lads were foraging for "Tetra Pond" Multi Mix after letting some float up into the tunnel.
Ever noticed when aquariums are "Brand-Spankers" as Keith Jones used to say, they look incredibly clean. A couple of weeks catching sunshine and it is virtually impossible to remove all the algae. But the thick algae growth on those little boxes provide a reserve of food for juvenile fish.

  • The lower tank is 120cm 52cm 35cm.It is fed by a reserve tank below now that contains a cooling coil and heaters for winter with a volume of 150 liters.

This set-up was a temporary arrangement before relocating.

The fish like entering the tunnel and often spend the nights "hanging" from the top upside-down.

  • This was the 3rd. glass tunnel I built.I got a price for cutting the side panels on a CNC programmable cutter. This would reduce 4 of the connections.Very expensive.Of course clear acrylic or perspex is an option but it does scratch easily.

My oldest tunnel is now 8 years old and still cleans up well.

It is a bit tricky assembling. The best glass worker in my city who does build aquariums would not give me a price for assembly. They will cut the glass at a very reasonable price.

  • It was a JOKE!

I am linking another video to show the test tank that was converted to this one.

Betas might possibly take to the small glass boxes but I don't keep betas.

  • Siamese fighters build "bubble-nests" on the surface for their young.

  • I thought I'd try Google Translate for a reply to that comment in French.

It reads:" As you can see the bottom aquarium is ample for a goldfish this size.No one is forcing the fish through the tunnel.Fish are naturally inquisitive and choose to "explore".In fact this tunnel does not connect to a second aquarium as my other system does.

But then "The Frogs" were never keen on tunnels!"

If that last phrase seems a little derogatory, the comment in French begins "This is stupid!

  • That is not a betta...That's a goldfish.

  • i love fiches

  • That's really cool, but the tank is far too small for a goldfish. Please move the poor guy into a bigger home.
